VIRIDIS Design Group assisted the Barry Community Foundation with the development of a master plan and cost opinion for the redevelopment of their existing parking lot and the creation of a performance space at the corner of Church Street and Center Street in Hastings. The parking lot design included a rain garden to help improve drainage and the addition of new signage, masonry piers, and ornamental fencing around the perimeter of the space. The performance space was developed in coordination with the Barry Community Foundation and the City of Hastings, and is highlighted by a circular paver stage flanked by seat walls, masonry piers, landscaping and ornamental fencing. Improvements were also made within the right of way to help connect the space to the public realm. These improvements included expanding the paver area, adding an elevated planter bed at curb level, and relocating a sculpture to a more fitting and prominent space at the intersection.
