VIRIDIS Design Group was retained by the City of Kalamazoo to develop a detailed landscape plan for the Veteran's Memorial at Rose Park. The goal of the design was to develop a palette that, in addition to being appropriate for a memorial, also added color and seasonal interest to the existing space. VIRIDIS developed a conceptual plan identifying the type and location of new plant material and landscape beds. After approval of the concept, VIRIDIS developed a final landscape plan and opinion of cost to be used for soliciting of bids by the City. The design included a mix of annuals, perennials, shrubs, ornamental trees, and new split rail fencing.
