VIRIDIS Design Group was retained by the City of Marshall to design an observation deck nestled along Stuart Lake in the Brooks Nature Area. VIRIDIS worked closely with the Nature Center board to develop the design parameters of the observation deck, as well as detailed cost opinions and grant funding options. VIRIDIS prepared construction documents for an observation deck, which includes benches, a barrier-free ramp, and a covered shelter. The design incorporates helical piers to minimize disturbance to the existing wetlands. VIRIDIS coordinated the topographical survey and soil testing and prepared the MDEQ joint permit application for the deck to be placed within wetlands.
